The Effects of Integrated Arts Therapy on the Depression of Married Women with Physical Disabilities

The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not it is effective to apply an integrated arts therapy(¡°the Therapy¡±) to treat depression experienced by married women with physical disabilities. The Selection of the subjects for this study included married women with physical disabilities who are capable of answering test papers and expressing their current feeling. Also, the subjects wholeheartedly understand the purpose and willingly agree to participate in the study. The three finalists who scored over 65 standard T points on the KDS-30 test are interviewed to determine the degree of their depression. For this study, an integrated arts therapy was given to subjects(married women with physical disabilities) once a week for 90 minutes, lasting 15 consecutive weeks at the ¡°s¡± City Woman Social Welfare Center located in Kyoungki do. During the study, the data were recorded by KDS-30 and HTP. The findings of the study is as follows: First of all, the therapy had a positive impact on the depression reduction of married women with physical disabilities. The total standard T points scored on a KDS-30 test had decreased from 229(M=76.3) to 174 (M=58). Secondly, positive and encouraging results were the outcomes of therapy sessions. The importance of this study is to prove the effectiveness of the therapy(a therapy involving arts, music and movements) in treatingdepression of married women with physical disabilities.
